Photo comments are displayed anonymously after approval. To prevent spam and support future statistics about commenters’ regions, we record the IP address, submission time, and associated photo when a comment is submitted. IP addresses are visible only to the administrator and are retained indefinitely, with no automatic time-based deletion. They are deleted when the associated comment is deleted. IP addresses are not currently sent to any third-party geolocation service.
IP addresses can only provide an estimate of a commenter’s general region. They do not represent the geographic distribution of all site visitors. Proxies, VPNs, and mobile networks may affect accuracy.
Optional contact cards are saved in the current browser, with a limit of three cards. The upload page and the comment confirmation share these cards. Only when you opt in to review notifications for this submission and confirm your choice are the selected contact’s name and email address sent to the site to deliver review results. They are not displayed publicly. Photo credit cards are stored separately and are used only to credit submitted photos.
Removing a card clears only the copy stored on this device. It does not withdraw an existing submission or a notification request you have already confirmed. Please remove your cards after using a shared device. Clearing the browser’s site data also removes the locally saved cards.
Guestbook and feedback
The message dialog reuses contact details saved in the current browser. If you select anonymous posting, public pages show only “Anonymous visitor”, without the name in your contact details. Your email is not saved unless you opt in to review notifications. To opt in, you must select a valid email address; it is used only for notifications and is not made public. Feedback is stored separately and is visible only to the administrator. Your email is sent to the site owner for contact only if you explicitly choose to provide it. Contact cards are stored on your device; deleting them does not delete content you have already submitted.
Online visitors
Public pages use a random anonymous identifier stored in the browser to count browsers active within the last 90 seconds. Multiple tabs in the same browser are combined where possible, and the count includes you. Visible pages send a heartbeat every 30 seconds; admin pages are excluded. If local storage is unavailable, a temporary identifier is used for each tab, which may cause duplicate counts. Clearing site data resets this identifier.
Online visitor statistics do not store IP addresses or contact details. The server retains anonymous identifiers and the last active time only briefly and regularly removes expired data. Spam prevention uses a temporary hash of the request source, cleared after at most about three minutes. These rules are separate from the retention rules for comment IP addresses.
